In its first full year, the Allina Health Neuroscience, Spine and Pain Institute (AHNSPI) consolidated its position as a regional leader in specialty care. In addition to maintaining its core strengths — two Comprehensive Stroke Centers, one Primary Plus Stroke Center, a Level 4 Epilepsy Center — the Institute expanded to broaden the range of support and treatment options it offers.

The launch of the Hedberg Survivorship Program for brain tumor patients at the Givens Brain Tumor Center, one of only a handful of such offerings in the country, serves patients with especially complex needs — including residual pain, cognitive deficits, social issues, and more — who are transitioning out of active treatment.
AHNSPI also established a movement disorders program that positions it to provide dedicated care to patients with Parkinson’s disease, essential tremor and other conditions. Additionally, the Institute was able to secure capital funding to launch a focused ultrasound program in late Q1 of 2025. This technology, paired with the new movement disorders program, will provide unprecedented access in the Twin Cities market.
With the integration of Metropolitan Neurosurgery in late 2024, AHNSPI brought the expertise and experience of four neurosurgeons and seven advanced practice providers (APPs) in-house, establishing one of the largest neurosurgery practices in the Upper Midwest, with nine board-certified surgeons, 18 APPs and additional support staff.
The Institute continues to prioritize the recruitment of expert providers who will allow it to fulfill Allina Health’s Mission to serve our communities by providing exceptional care to all who entrust us with their care.
